Family Portraits – Alison + Carlos + Tiago
Here’s something that’s a little different for me, I don’t usually do family portraits. Not that I don’t want to, I just don’t get asked very often. Alison and Carlos were referred to me by Aleksandra and Steve (Look for their engagement photo’s soon). I have to say, I think shooting with younger kids is by far one of the hardest things. Takes a lot of patience and timing, my hat is off to all you baby photographers you make it look easy! luckily we got some good shots.
July 25, 2010 - 4:08 pm - Looks awesome, almost like they had no idea you were even there. So natural

Vanessa + Gerardo – Engagement
Vanessa, after living in Canada her whole life decided to move to Mexico for a few years to go to University. What are the chances she meets her future husband there? Well, pretty good I guess because that’s where she met Gerardo. It’s always such a relief when I meet new clients who are up for anything to get that perfect shot. I’m excited to shoot their wedding coming up in a few weeks. Here are a few of my favourites from the day.

Liz + Bori – Engagement
Liz and Bori are by far the easiest couple to shoot. All I had to say was smile and they broke out laughing. I swear they’ve both modelled before, they wouldn’t stop striking up poses. Made my job extremely easy. Today was kinda cold but they toughed it out and we got some great shots. I hope we can hang out again before the big day in a few months.
April 17, 2010 - 8:59 pm - He is extremely photogenic, i assume you're doing the wedding as well? that should be a great shoot, i'm excited to see what you do with it.
April 17, 2010 - 9:28 pm - Wow. Great work. I saw how excited you were to shoot this couple and it shows. SI
iStock – It’s about time.
Lately, well not even lately, in the past 3 years I’ve sucked big time at uploading new shots. Why? Good question, I guess laziness is the only word to sum it up. In the past 3 years I could have uploaded a few thousand, all it takes is a few shots everyday but I didn’t. If you break it down 250 shots/3 = 83/12 = 7 rounded up. That’s 7 shots per month, when I have the ability to upload 100 per week. So it’s time to step it up, get this butt in gear and start uploading like a machine. Who knows, maybe in a few years I’ll need to hire someone to upload my shots for me. Ahh, what a life that would be. Here’s one of the newest uploads.
If you’re wondering what iStock is, or would like to see some of my shots click here.
March 6, 2010 - 11:37 am - You have some really great stock photo's in your portfolio!
March 7, 2010 - 11:51 am - HAHAH you actually uploaded that one. That picture was just supposed to be for laughs! lol
April 17, 2010 - 8:58 pm - Took some amazing pictures to help promote my music, and i'm happy that people downloaded some of them on istock! keep it up man
I’ll look at yours if you look at mine!
I’ve got a few emails recently from photographers just complimenting my work. That’s awesome and nothing feels better than to get feedback from fellow photographers in the area. In this industry, there are a few ways to really excel. If you can market yourself really well you’re golden, and by networking with people. Don’t consider everyone in your area to be “competition”, sure you are both fighting for bookings but in the big picture there are thousands of people getting married every year. That’s lots to go around. By connecting with those other photographers you are getting your name out there, having them send clients your way and vice versa. Who knows when you might need an extra set of hands at a wedding, wouldn’t it be nice to know you have a few backups? I never like to stop learning, if I can pick up a few things from someone else to make my shooting or workflow faster that’s great and if I can give a few tips even better. I’m constantly reading blogs but never leaving feedback, but I should be. If you’re reading this, comment or leave me a message. It doesn’t matter if you’re not a photographer, if you’re a lawn cutter in the summer, I want to hear from you. Let’s use the resources and knowledge we have and share it, it will only make us better in the future!
Posts are always better with a picture, talk to you soon!
March 4, 2010 - 7:08 am - It is not only a good idea to network with other photographers through things like local photo clubs but, networking with other local businesses, in and out of your specific industry helps as well. Things like the Rotary club are great for meeting other local business owners and connecting your company to an organization that has a great reputation towards bettering the community. Accordingly, the NAPP or NPPA are also good professional photog organizations that offer great feedback and support by others in the industry and can help you run your business. Great forum for crowd-sourcing from a very specific group of people.
Oh-So-Sparkly
There is something about ring shots that mess with my mind… in a good way. I follow a few blogs and with every engagement session or wedding there is always that “gorgeous ring shot”. I have to admit, I love looking at them. It’s something I need to do much more often. It’s not as easy as it looks however, back in the day when I was a small chap with my shiny new Rebel XT I was asked to shoot some jewelry. Eager to take on any job I could I jumped on the chance. I had never shot jewelry in my life, why I thought I could do it with my kit lens, I’m not sure. Long story short, it was HARD! I couldn’t get anything in focus, nothing was sharp, it was a catastrophe. The owner actually got better shots somehow with a small point and shoot camera, go figure. My objective as a photographer for the next 2 years was to figure out how the hell that guy got such good shots from a P&S and made me look like a fool. So with every new wedding or engagement there will be a new “oh-so-sparkly” ring shot to go along with it. Here’s one to start it off, posts are always more fun with pictures. The jewelry shop owner would be so proud of me now!
February 28, 2010 - 10:32 pm - I love this picture. It's so sharp!
Krissy + Kevin
All through school, Krissy was best friends with Kevin’s sister. She never thought any more of it, he was her friends brother… that’s just weird. Well they met again at a party some 15 years later, went out for a few drinks and their friendship morphed into something they didn’t expect. A love affair. What makes these guys so great together is they really compliment each-other. Krissy is very loud, fun, bossy (didn’t hear that from me) and loves to party. Kevin is more quiet, laid back and refined. She brings out a different side to him whereas he keeps her in line. We met them in Markham, Saturday to do their engagement photo’s. The weather was a lot colder than the weather man forecasted, surprise that is. Even though we ended it a little early, we got some great shots and had a lot of fun hangin’ out with them.
